What this pattern means
Earth governs the Spleen and Stomach, the digestive pair. Its climate is Humidity, its emotion is thinking and worry, and the Nadiswara element card gives its themes as "Stagnation, Nourishment, Consciousness".
Qi is the energy an organ uses to do its work. Spleen Qi is the energy of transformation: it turns food into nourishment and sends that nourishment where it is needed. When Spleen Qi is deficient, the transformation slows. Food and fluid sit in the middle of the body as Humidity, while the tissues that should have received nourishment go short, which reads as Dryness. The pattern is written Humidity-Dryness for that reason: too much in one place, too little in another.
Signs traditionally associated with this pattern include poor appetite, abdominal distension, low mood, heaviness and a tendency to gain weight. The low mood belongs to Earth as much as the distension does, because the Spleen's emotion is worry, and a mind that turns things over is the mental shape of food that does not move.
How it shows in a Nadiswara report
- Your main patterns. The app may show Spleen as the Main focus with the chips "Earth element" and "Yin" and a level chip of Mild, Moderate or High.
- Five elements. On a pulse session's "Five Elements" card, Humidity may stand out, as it did in a sample where Humid sat well above the other four. The pulse explanation may describe a Slippery quality, "smooth and rolling like pearls under the fingers", which a sample report associated with Dampness, and may explain the link to Water: "when Kidney Yang is deficient, the digestive fire weakens".
- Wellness at a glance and body balance. Digestion may sit under "Needs support", the energy slider may lean towards low energy and the fluid-balance slider may sit away from the middle.
- Food tab. "Food metabolism" may rate carbohydrates and proteins Low, and the food guide may favour Warming, cooked foods with raw, cold and sweet foods under "Avoid", as a sample's "lack of Appetite & lethargy" and "heaviness, distention" would suggest.

Diet and lifestyle
The food guide and "Try this" steps for a weak Spleen are about warmth, regularity and movement. From the sample reports and the app's own wellness tips, a practitioner may consider:
- "Eating cooked foods instead of raw or cold meals supports the Spleen and Stomach Qi."
- "Including warming spices like ginger and pepper stimulates digestive fire."
- "Avoiding sugar, greasy foods, and late-night meals", and avoiding "large quantities of food, especially at night".
- "Eating your largest meal around midday suits the body's natural rhythm."
- "A daily walk is essential to stimulate Qi circulation, clear dampness", and "a short, easy walk after meals supports comfortable digestion".
- "Avoiding work discussions during meals and eating mindfully."
